In the first AUDITORIUM session of the 2023—I Semester, Anna Bella Geiger shares with LA ESCUELA___ some of her teaching experiences at the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage, the landscape of education in 1980s Brazil, and the relevance of her training program Atividade Criatividade for artistic practices in Latin America.
Anna Bella Geiger (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1933): multidisciplinary artist of Polish-Jewish ancestry and professor at the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage. She is widely known both for her early abstract works and for her pioneering incursions into video art and installation, as well as her commitment to developing courses and educational programs in museums and universities. In her works, Geiger addressed themes that revolved around the socio-political climate in Brazil toward the end of the 20th century, through reflections on colonial policies, geographical borders, and cultural stereotypes.

Anna Bella Geiger’s lecture on the AUDITORIUM of La Escuela___ will feature the participation of Ana Clara Simões Lopes.
