Is our imagination in crisis? What is its political role? What prevents and allows today another imagery of politics? Can we deconstruct official regimes? Can we govern ourselves? Political Fiction Program is a performance laboratory conducted by artists from Agremiação LATIDOS (São Paulo and Salvador, Brazil) integrated by exercises that seek other possibilities of political action for the present and the future

This laboratory seeks to manipulate linguistic and formal instances present in the Latin American macro-political environment, in an attempt to uncover clues and possible exits for the current choreographies of political participation. It also aims to experiment with working procedures that can systematize a possible pedagogy of imagination, towards building a method that can be replicated by diverse people in the most varied contexts.

"Fiction is a strategic foundation capable of opening up space for other perceptions of reality and, thus, it can show us other tools that expand our critical vitality to the point of moving us to political action."

Agremiação LATIDOS

the laboratory investigates certain aesthetic and formal elements of the current field of institutional politics, such as discourse, flag, electoral campaign, the idea of a nation, the rally, debate, and demonstration. These are elements that constitute a certain hegemonic grammar that has been wearing out our imagination and weakening our interactions with the institutions of power. For the Program, fiction is a strategic foundation capable of opening up space for other perceptions of reality and, thus, it can show us other tools that expand our critical vitality to the point of moving us to political action.

The Political Fiction Program consists of 5 exercises in political imagination organized as follows:

Session 1: Public Policies Analysis Clinics
Session 2: Legislative Theater
Session 3: A flag for a country that doesn’t exist
Session 4: I Candidate
Session 5: Panflert

Participation

Each session is independent and has specific research topics but they all follow an established methodological structure: text reading, warm-up and improvisation games, individual and collective activities, group discussion after the presentations, and using fictional resources to carry out activities.

The Political Fiction Program is a free formative project open to artists and creators with an interest in the crossings between art and politics. LA ESCUELA___ will make a selection from the applications received through the application form.
