Jjoão Paes
(Maceió - Brazil) Artist and student. His work unfolds between the fields of writing, theater, performance, and sound. Between 2018 and 2022, he worked at Centro de Acolhida e Cultura Casa 1 (São Paulo), with an emphasis on the projects 'Editora Monstra', the residency 'Temporary Institute for Research on Censorship' (2020), and the ongoing construction of the political-pedagogical project of the space. In 2020, he published the theater text “Vingança” (2020) on the occasion of the fourth edition of Fronteras Teatrales of Dolce Still Criolo magazine. He edited the podcasts Palanque (2022), in collaboration with VoteLGBT, and Passagem Só de Ida (2021), in collaboration with Acervo Bajubá. Since 2019, he has been collaborating with the art platform avaf, directed by Eli Sudbrack. Between 2018 and 2019, he formed the duo Boca de Cabelo with artist Bruno Mendonça, presenting works in spoken word and soundtracks in cultural spaces and bookstores of São Paulo. He currently lives, works, and studies in Salvador de Bahia.
