Claudia Capriles Sandner

(Caracas, Venezuela, 1964) Dancer, choreographer and researcher. Director of the multidisciplinary project PLAN-CERO. She holds a master’s degree in Contemporary Philosophical Thought from the University of Valencia, Spain. She has a BA in Dance and a Master in Choreographic Composition from the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, Germany, under the direction of masters Pina Bausch and Jean Cebrón. Claudia Capriles is a founding professor and Honorary Chair at the Universidad Experimental de las Artes (UNEARTE), Venezuela, where she teaches Dance Technique, Teaching Methodology, Composition and Dance History. She has been a soloist dancer with the companies Neuer Tanz of Düsseldorf and Essener Theater in Germany, and with Acción Colectiva, Rajatabladanza, Lapuesta, and Danzahoy in Venezuela. Her choreographic work has been developed within the framework of the Young Choreographers’ Festival of Venezuela, as well as in several national and international companies during the last thirty years. In 2022 she taught an assembly workshop for the restaging of the work Cuerdas Simple Medida by Sonia Sanoja (1932-2017), presented at the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart. She is currently a doctoral student at the Universidad Central de Venezuela and continues to develop her teaching and choreographic work in Caracas.
