Cristina Ribas

(São Borja, Brazil, 1980) Artist, writer, and researcher based in Porto Alegre, Brazil. She conceives and organizes interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of politics and aesthetics, and develops different forms of militant research in relation to artistic practices. Her own practice, in the broadest sense, articulates cartography, memory, history, archives, feminist theories, and practices. She holds a PhD from the Art Department at Goldsmiths College, University of London (2017) and is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Post Graduate Program in Arts from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). In 2011, she created the open platform Desarquivo, a sort of digital library for Brazilian-based artistic and political productions since the 2000s. In 2014, she conceived the project and edited the book Political Vocabulary for Aesthetic Processes. Since 2015, she has been developing workshops that mix up improvisation techniques from the Theatre of the Oppressed and feminist practices. In 2017, she gathered with Giseli Vasconcelos and Tatiana Wells in the Arquivos Táticos project. She is part of the Conceptualismos Network, the Feminist Affective Epistemologies Research Group (EAF), and of I-Motirõ Association.
