Silvia Soter

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) Professor, dance critic and playwright. She is a professor at the Faculdade de Educação and at the Postgraduate Program in Dance at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (PPGDAN-UFRJ). She holds a PhD in Education from UFRJ, a master's degree in Theater from UNIRIO (2005), a bachelor’s degree in Dance from the University of Paris 8 (1996), and a bachelor's degree in Arts from PUC-Rio (1988). She co-authored the book La Passion des Possibles: Lia Rodrigues, 30 ans de compagine (Editions de l'Attribut., 2021), together with Isabelle Launay. She is a co-author of art textbooks for elementary schools (Coleção "Mosaico e Percursos da Arte"), where she is responsible for the dance contents. Since 2003, she has been developing projects in the area of Art/Dance at Redes da Maré. In 2011, she founded with Lia Rodrigues the Escola Livre de Dança da Maré (Redes da Maré/Lia Rodrigues Companhia de Danças). She has been working as a playwright for Lia Rodrigues Companhia de Danças since 2002 and has also collaborated with artists such as Dani Lima, Jérôme Be,l and Marcelo Evelin.
