Katherine Chacón

(Caracas, Venezuela, 1964) Art curator, art writer and critic specializing in Venezuelan and Latin American art. She has extensive experience in museum management and cultural administration. She has undertaken international curatorial projects and coordinated, edited, and written outstanding art publications, including Arte en el paisaje venezolano [Art in the Venezuelan Landscape] (Fundación Mercantil, Caracas, 2005). Chacón began her career at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Caracas where she held the position of chief curator of the Latin American Art Collection. Her work as a curator of exhibitions includes shows carried out in museums and cultural institutions in Venezuela, the USA, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. She has served as general director of the Museo Armando Reverón (1994-2001), the Museo de la Estampa y el Diseño Carlos Cruz-Diez (2001-2006) and the Museo Alejandro Otero (2006-2008). She is a member of AICA–International Association of Art Critics–where she served as a member of the Awards Committee in its Venezuelan Chapter from 2011 to 2016. She currently lives in Miami, USA, where she works as a freelance curator.
