Galería MUY

(Chiapas, Mexico, 2014) Gallery devoted to contemporary indigenous art. Located in the historic center of the town of San Cristóbal de las Casas (Chiapas), Galería MUY is devoted to exhibiting and promoting current and contemporary Mayan and Zoque art made by creators from the native peoples of the region. Founded by John Burstein and coordinated by Martha Alejandro, the project also includes local artists PH Joel, Darwin Cruz, and P. T'ul Gómez. To date, they have organized more than 20 exhibitions covering painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and video. They also organize workshops and traveling exhibitions that tour around Tsotsil, Tseltal, Zoque and other communities in Chiapas.
