Fernanda Barreto

(São Paulo, Brazil, 1988) Artist, translator, and cultural manager interested in educational and pedagogical practices. Her research focuses on language within communication practices, collective enunciation, and social structures, making use of different media to answer them. She holds an MA in Visual Arts with an emphasis in art and environment from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Barreto holds a BA in Visual Arts from the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP, SP, 2009) and a degree as Professor of Arts from the Centro Universitário Belas Artes (SP, 2011). She took part in SOMA’s Educational Program in 2013/14 (Mexico City). She was a curator of the Second Biennial of Arts and Design at UNAM, Pedir lo imposible [Asking the Impossible] (2020). She managed and curated the exhibition Tú de mí/Yo de ti at the Museo de la Ciudad (Mexico, 2019). She was a recipient of the Adidas Border Scholarship (2015) and the Casa Vecina Cultural Residency (2016). She has exhibited her work in different countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Costa Rica, and New Zealand. She is part of the Network of Empathic Pedagogies in Latin America.
