Jordi Ferreiro

(Barcelona, Spain, 1982) Artist and educator. His work explores the concept of institutional mediation and how art can be a tool to act upon and change the bureaucratic spaces responsible for administering knowledge, constructing what we understand as culture, and regulating our understanding of the world. Building on his interests in experimental pedagogies and site-specific practices, Ferreiro uses installations, performances, and established educational formats (guided tours, audio guides, etc.) to generate “states of exception” within cultural institutions, with the intention of testing new infrastructures and models of governance. On these premises, he has carried out projects in international institutions such as Z33 (Belgium), Zacheta Gallery (Poland), Museo del Oro (Colombia), Lugar a Dudas (Colombia), Valand Academy (Sweden), Museo Cerrillos (Chile), Gaîté Lyrique (France), and TEOR/ética (Costa Rica). He has also worked on several Spanish institutions such as MACBA Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona, Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, Matadero, La Casa Encendida, Museo Nacional Thyssen Bornemisza, and Centre d’Art Fabra i Coats, among others.
