Jessica Gogan

(Dublin, Ireland, 1966) Curator and educator. She is based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she is director of Instituto MESA and coordinating editor of their flagship magazine Revista MESA. Her research and projects explore the interfaces of art, care, and pedagogy and experiment with collective practices and non-exhibition-based forms of collaborative curatorship. In addition to co-editing six issues of the online bilingual periodical Revista MESA (2015 – 2021), in 2017 she published the book Domingos da Criação: Uma coleção do experimental em arte e educação, exploring the participatory happenings Domingos da Criação [Sundays of Creation] held at Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro in 1971 and developed in collaboration with the events organizer critic/curator Frederico Morais. She is currently a collaborating professor and postdoctoral fellow in the Postgraduate Program in Contemporary Studies of the Arts at Universidade Federal Fluminense, Brazil. She holds a PhD in Art History from the University of Pittsburgh (2016) and was formerly curator of special projects and director of education at The Andy Warhol Museum.
