Mónica Amieva

(Mexico City, 1980) Pedagogical curator and researcher at the Institute of Aesthetic Research of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Since 2005, she develops projects focused on exploring various dimensions of the transformative power of the crossings between contemporary art, critical theory, and pedagogy. She holds a PhD in Contemporary Philosophy from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and a master's degree in Contemporary Art Theory from the same institution. She has taught classes in art history, philosophy, and aesthetics at the UAB; UNAM, the Ibero-American University, SOMA, and 17, Institute of Critical Studies, among others. Amieva was a pedagogical curator at the Contemporary Art University Museum (MUAC), in the 4th edition of the BBVA Bancomer-MACG Arte Actual Program, at the Tamayo Contemporary Art Museum—where she created the Department of Educational Studies (DEE)—and in the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. She participated in the Tools for Cultural Organization program at the 31st São Paulo Biennial, in the Independent Curators International (ICI) Curatorial Intensive in Manila, and is a founding member of the Plataforma Arte Educación (PAE).
