Deise de Brito

(Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, 1981) Performing artist, researcher and educator. Deise de Brito is an artist of dance and theater, passionate about hips. She is an educator and author of a Performing Arts textbook. She holds a degree in Theater from Universidade Federal da Bahia, specializing in Dancing Arts from the Escola de Dança da Fundação Cultural do Estado da Bahia. Deise de Brito is a Master of Arts from the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo (USP) and a Doctor of Arts from the Instituto de Artes of the “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” State University (UNESP). She develops ‘love-research’ embracing black artists from conversations between the body, ancestry, memory, and archives. She is the mind behind the ‘Arquivos de Okan’ website.
