Ruth Auerbach

Researcher and curator of contemporary art. She studied at the Instituto de Diseño Neumann and at the Escuela de Artes of the Universidad Central de Venezuela. She worked at the Galería de Arte Nacional, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas, and Museo Alejandro Otero. Between 2001 and 2010, she was general director of the Sala Mendoza (Caracas). She has organized numerous solo and group exhibitions in both public and private institutions. She currently works as an independent curator and art director in the private sector. She has written about art and photography for several publications including: Las Estatuas de Caracas (Fundarte, Caracas, 1993); “La Última Contemporaneidad: la década de los 90 en el arte venezolano” (in Revista Estilo, Caracas); “La Sala Mendoza: desde los ochenta hasta nuestros días” (in Sala Mendoza 1956-2001, 2002). “Gego, la Construcción de una didáctica” (in Gego Obra Completa 1955-1990, Edición Fundación Cisneros, Caracas, 2003). And, recently, a monograph about Venezuelan artist Mercedes Pardo and an essay for the book Arte contemporáneo de Venezuela Vol. 2 (Villanueva Editores, forthcoming).
